WOGI will again sponsor Parent Regional Meetings.  Based on the positive feedback from parents of children who are gifted and other stakeholders who attended the workshop last spring, WOGI will offer the same presentation to parents in five new locations across the state.  The workshop is scheduled for Saturday mornings and will last from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. There are no provisions for childcare.  The presenters are Denise Bishop and Dr. Patty Gatto-Walden:

The purpose of the meetings included the following:

  • Provide definition of a gifted learner

  • Describe the innate characteristics

  • Emphasize development of the whole child

  • Explore the strengths and vulnerabilities of gifted learners

  • Discuss characteristics and challenges of peer relationships

  • Provide strategies to maximize parent effectiveness (goodness-of-fit)
